Before listing him, we spent some time putting him through his paces ourselves. We tested Atlas for around 20–30 minutes using the battery straight out of the box, and he was still going strong when we finished. We also tested his movement on timber flooring, where he walked and turned smoothly without slipping, and successfully controlled him from across an approximately 8-metre living room. We also downloaded the AI Robot Dog app on an iPhone. The download and connection process was quick during our testing, and the app provides controls similar to the handheld remote along with additional voice-input and programming options. During our own testing, the remote operated Atlas reliably from one side of an approximately 8-metre living room to the other. Mobile App Control Atlas can also be controlled using the AI Robot Dog mobile app. We tested the app on an iPhone and found it quick to download and connect. The app offers many of the same controls as the physical remote, with additional options for voice input and programming. A QR code is supplied to help access the compatible app. iPhone app connectivity has been tested by our team. Compatibility with individual phones, operating systems and app-store regions may vary. We tested him on timber flooring and found that he could walk, turn and perform his movements without slipping. Atlas does not have obstacle avoidance. If he walks into furniture or another object, he will continue trying to move forward until he is redirected using the controls. Sounds You Can Actually Live With Atlas includes built-in sounds to accompany his movements and routines. During our testing, we found the volume easy to hear without being excessively loud – a welcome feature for a toy that's likely to get plenty of use around the house. Approximate Size Atlas has an approximate body size of 30cm long × 20cm wide × 10cm high. When standing on his articulated legs, he reaches approximately 20cm from the ground. He has a solid, good-quality feel in the hand while remaining a manageable size for indoor play. Rechargeable Power Atlas is powered by an included 3.7V rechargeable battery and comes with a USB charging cable. In our initial testing, Atlas ran for approximately 20–30 minutes using the battery straight out of the box and was still running strongly when we finished testing.
