Delightful Folk Art Painted Marriage Box with Wild Flowers on Blue & Cream

A charming early painted pine box, decorated with delightful folk-painted panels and dated 1836. The original decoration survives beautifully, with soft pastel shades giving the piece a wonderfully decorative and distinctive character. In very good condition throughout, it retains its substantial iron carrying handles to each side, original hinges and internal candle box. A particularly appealing piece of early 19th-century folk furniture, full of colour, character and history. Central Europe, c.1830.
