Vignes du Maynes Bourgogne Rouge 'Auguste'

Vignes du Maynes is run my the inimitable Julien Guillot, who converted the family estate to biodynamics when he took over in 1998. The most natural methods possible are used to vinify the wines. Semi-carbonic maceration is used for the reds and long fermentations are favoured. Auguste is one of Julien's rarest cuvées made from comes from Pinot Fin, an ancient, small-berried, low-yielding clone of Pinot Noir planted back in 1964 inside the Clos des Vignes du Maynes from which Cuvée 910 also comes. Explosively aromatic and floral; expect crushed wild raspberries, sour cherry, damp earth, blood orange zest, peonies, and a signature mineral streak with a hint of natural game.
