Fold to form a 90° angle. 2 Cut Cut in a circle around the impression — approximately 1/3× larger than the pipe diameter to allow for the folded flange. 3 Slit Cut 1"–2" slits perpendicular to the impression — start at the 12 o'clock position, then 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, and so on around the full circle. 4 Position & Tape Position the slit paper dam inside the pipe at the correct proximity to the weld zone (see table above). Secure the dam around the entire circumference with Dynaweld Water Soluble Tape. 5 Activate Tape Lightly dab a damp sponge along the tape seal. The moisture reactivates the adhesive, creating a low air-permeability seal. Allow to dry to achieve an effective gas-tight seal. 6 Repeat Opposite Side Repeat Steps 1–5 on the opposite side of the pipe to close the purge chamber. Ensure both dams are positioned at the correct distance from the weld zone. 7 Introduce Purge Gas Insert the purge gas needle into the root gap.
