Eperosa Magnolia 1941 Semillon 2024 100% Semillon - Magnolia Vineyard, Vine Vale, Barossa Valley. Dry farmed, organically farmed, single block of 1941 planted vines. Deep alluvial granitic sands. Hand picked, pressed to tank prior to naturally settling then racked to larger, older wood for fermentation then ageing for 16 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered. "All semillon, all Magnolia Vineyard (Vine Vale), all farmed organically from a block planted in 1941, all barrel fermented and matured (on lees). Don’t know about you, but I love the fact that someone got out their shovel in the Barossa, in the middle of a world war, and dug some holes, and planted rows of semillon in sandy, granitic soil, in 1941. Such an act of faith, and an act of hope, in sandy soils, in semillon, and in sun. There’s a yellow-golden hue to this wine, and a widespread yeastiness to the flavour profile, and a texture like sun on the skin of grapes, and a spread through the finish that’s like a sunset of dried citrus rind and stonefruit and bark. The wine looks yellow, tastes orange, feels like wax-polished stones and just when you think savouriness reigns, fruit rises. It’s champion stuff." 95 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
