Comprehensive Lathe June 21 [Sundays 6 Week Intensive]

This class is designed for those wishing to advance their skills from novice on a wood lathe. Class sizes are small so you will get a lot of time on one of our multiple lathes. Projects will range from small fountain pens, progressing to bowls and platters with an emphasis on safety. The TTL Makerspace is a thriving community of like minded makers and the perfect place to develop a foundation in shop safety and etiquette. We will try to spend most of the class on the lathe with students taking turns on our different machines. Schedule: Six three-hour weekly classes, Sundays 2pm to 5pm Outcomes: At the end of this course you will have experienced the following: Complete understanding of the anatomy of a lathe Experience with a variety of turning tools Use of an array of lathe accessories Preparation of blanks Use of mandrels and inserts Experience with a variety of woods Turning spindles Turning bowls and platters Following the course, you’ll be able to use both Craftex and Coronet Herald lathes at TTLMakerspace with your active membership.
