Uneri / Custom color
Uneri / Custom color This is a custom-colored Uneri. Other than the color, it has the same specifications as the standard Uneri. Uneri I developed this pedal with a focus on faithfully reproducing the original Uni-Vibe tone, while making it easier to operate. Reproducing the Original Tone To recreate the original tone perfectly, I disassembled my original 1974 Uni-Vibe and measured every component value. I meticulously examined and engineered every element: the buffer’s texture, the effect’s depth and engagement, subtle nuances, and even the internal voltages of each section. Improvements to the Original Design I have eliminated the inconveniences of the original Uni-Vibe, without compromising the tone in any way. My new design is more practical and offers modern usability. 1. Independent Speed Control and Effects The original Uni-Vibe combines the effect on/off switch with the speed control. This design makes it extremely difficult to reproduce the exact same speed once the effect is turned off. This isn’t a problem, if you keep the pedal engaged throughout a song. In today’s rapidly evolving music scene, however, this circuit lacks flexibility, and I find it cumbersome to use. Uneri solves this issue by separating the effect on/off function to a dedicated footswitch, and the speed control to a potentiometer. Additionally, this design provides two speed settings that are instantly switchable via the footswitch. Having two speeds available dramatically enhances expressive control during performance. 2. Buffer Volume Adjustment Function Like the original Uni-Vibe, the Uneri has a single volume knob that controls the overall volume, whether the effect is on or off. While this design offers the advantage of simple, intuitive operation, it also means the volume cannot be adjusted separately for when the effect is off versus when it’s on. Depending on the settings, this circuit can make the sound seem hollow or like the volume has dropped when the effect is engaged. To address this issue, I added an internal trim pot to lower the volume when the effect is off. Adjusting this trimmer allows you to achieve a better balance, like a “a slightly more subdued volume when the effect is off” and “a volume that really pushes forward when the effect is on.” Differences from the Previous Model While we previously sold a product under the name “Uneri,” this new model is a completely different product. It differs significantly from the previous one, in both sound and specifications. The previous model was designed to reconstruct a sound and match a specific character. In contrast, the new Uneri was designed with a focus on faithfully reproducing the original Uni-Vibe sound while making it easier to use, without compromising that tone. As a result, despite sharing the same name, the new Uneri is a completely different product, both in sound and operability. input impedance Uneri has the same low input impedance as the original Uni-Vibe. If you're struggling with overly thick tones or a bit of noise, place a buffer before that pedal. Your problems will be solved.
