Advanced Beginner – Summer Hat Everyone needs a great summer hat! In this class you can choose from making either a classic summer beach hat or a bucket hat. Either is the perfect hat for lounging by the pool, the beach or sitting at the park. In this class you'll get a refresher of the basics of sewing (though it's expected for this class that you have some previous sewing experience). You'll also learn how to sew curves and and line a simple project. We'll provide the pattern to cut and specific instructions to guide you along the way to make a great beach hat. Skills You’ll Learn A refresher on how to use the sewing machine The concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance How to sew curves How to line a simple project How to topstitch Who It’s For Advanced beginners who have some basic sewing knowledge and want to strengthen their skills. Not for complete beginners. We don't teach how to sew in this class and you'll need some sewing experience. Take a beginner sewing class first if needed. Materials Provided: Sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape, iron, ironing board Needed: You can choose to purchase materials at checkout (pick your fabrics in class) OR if not using our materials kit, you'll need: 1/2 yard for the main and 1/2 for the lining for either hat.
