Rega Research was founded in Southend-on-Sea, Essex in 1973 — initially as a turntable manufacturer — and has since built a comprehensive range of electronics and loudspeakers that share a consistent design philosophy: deliberate simplicity, careful component selection, and a focus on musical accuracy over specification-sheet performance. The Elicit MK5 represents the most comprehensive realisation of that approach in Rega’s integrated amplifier range to date, combining a power amplifier derived from the award-winning Aethos, a preamplifier circuit taken directly from that same flagship model, a newly developed onboard DAC, a moving magnet phono stage, and a headphone output — all in a single, well-built chassis.
