Peru El Cerro Yellow Caturra
FACT SHEET Tasting Notes: Peach, Tropical Fruit, Fig Roasting: Medium Light Processing: Washed Breed: Yellow Caturra Cultivation altitude: 1,850~2,000m Farm: El Cerro Region: Chirinos, Cajamarca Farm Owner: Ephraim Karuayoklo PEACHES, TROPICAL FRUITS, FIGS While Colombia La Mina possesses a refreshing and bright acidity, Peru El Cerro Caturra has a slightly more affectionate and softer acidity tone. Like warm yellow sunshine, it brings to mind apricots or yellow peaches. The subtle aftertaste evokes yellow tropical fruits, or perhaps figs. The sweetness, reminiscent of brown sugar, is so pleasant that it also reminds me of canned peaches. I recommend this to those who wish to fully enjoy all the flavors with just a cup of coffee, without any other dessert. Caturra is a widely cultivated variety in Peru, and the Peruvian beans I have introduced so far often contained a blend of Caturra. This time, however, it is the Yellow Caturra variety, characterized by its yellow cherries. While the exact differences resulting from the yellow flesh are not fully known, the significance of this coffee lies in the fact that it is a single-variety Yellow Caturra. It seems to have a slightly brighter acidity tone compared to the previous Peruvian coffees. I highly recommend giving it a try.
