Adult males develop a striking slender blue/turquoise body, while females are larger (15cm), usually brown to olive-green, with distinctive little lobe-like “ears” on the head. This listing is for 4 babies, maybe an extra one or two for free if stock levels allow it. They are slim, twig-like, calm insects that spend the day resting among their food plant and become more active at night. They are not difficult to keep, provided they have fresh food, good ventilation, and enough height to moult properly. Why we like them These are a great choice if you want an impressive but low-maintenance species. They grow fairly large, look delicate and elegant, and the blue males are genuinely eye-catching. They are also much easier than many of the more specialist phasmids, making them a good beginner species for sensible keepers. Suitable for beginners? Yes. Ramulus nematodes “Blue” is a very good beginner stick insect, especially for keepers who can reliably provide fresh bramble or similar food plants. They are easy to house, easy to feed, and rewarding to raise, while still looking far more unusual than many common starter species.
