Mini Crescent sideboard
The customers who commissioned this sideboard from Dylan wanted an elegant and functional piece to fit comfortably in a compact space. This made from locally sourced, sustainable oak. The sideboard features a chestnut back, and balances practicality and elegance, with a flat top, with the gentle sweep of steam-bent sides. A subtle curve is cut into the bottom plinth, echoing and complementing the flowing lines throughout the piece. This sense of movement continues in the shaped top rail and the corresponding curves in both the upper and lower door rails, creating a cohesive and harmonious design. The doors are crafted using bookmatched burr brown oak door panels, adding visual interest and character. The hand-forged metal handles add a subtle, tactile contrast, complementing the organic form of the wood. Traditional mortice and tenon joints, secured with pegs, ensure lasting strength and integrity, allowing the piece to stand the test of time. This sideboard is finished with linseed oil and a homemade oil-wax blend, created using beeswax sourced from the smallholding where the workshop is based. Customers are encouraged to be involved in the design of their commissioned piece and also, where possible, to come to the workshop to choose their timber. Dimensions 130cm long 78cm high 55cm deep
