Beaked Willow
About the Beaked Willow The Beaked Willow (also called Bebb's Willow) is a hardy native willow that grows as a large shrub or small multi-stemmed tree. Found along prairie sloughs, creeks and aspen bluffs, it is an excellent choice for naturalizing, riparian plantings and wildlife habitat. Fuzzy catkins appear in early spring, providing one of the first food sources for bees. It grows quickly, tolerates wet soils and helps stabilize banks and low areas. Beaked Willow is also the source of 'diamond willow', prized by woodworkers for its distinctive diamond-shaped patterns. Check out our free PDF Tree Planting Guide.
