Studio Work, KT8847, 2019. I made this ring not long after I discovered my passion for being a jeweller. I got this selenite from a gift store in Queenstown when I was travelling with my cousin. I like how fragile the stone is and how hypnotic the light it reflects is, even through the cracks. The stone is soft and gentle; therefore, I wanted to create a brutal structure around it to balance. So, I made this ring in the living room of the apartment that I was renting. I remember how hard it was for me to build a complex structure like that when I was 6 months into making jewellery, and also how fearless I was to try.
