Biography Okutani Shuseki (1871-1936) 1871 (Meiji 4) - 1936 (Showa 11) Born in Osaka Prefecture. Real name: Tsunejiro,or Tsune. The pseudonym is Senjido,Kyokusuien,Rinpo,Hannyashitsu,Kaiko,Aiai-so. Studied under Mori Kansai and mastered the Maruyama School of painting. He excelled at landscape painting. Opened a private school to train his students. He is also famous as a connoisseur of Mori Kansai's paintings. He was an important figure in the Kyoto art scene in the Meiji, Taisho and early Showa periods. He lived in Kyoto City. Died at the age of 66.
