Rhubarb 'Sutton's Seedless'

Rhubarb 'Suttons Seedless' is a highly sought-after perennial vegetable celebrated for producing exceptionally thick, vibrant red stems with an outstanding, sweet-tart flavour profile. Unlike many other traditional varieties, it rarely bolts or produces flower stalks, meaning the plant successfully channels all of its energy into generating a heavy, reliable crop of high-quality stalks from mid-spring into early summer. The massive, deeply veined green leaves add fantastic structural and architectural volume to kitchen gardens, making it both a highly productive and visually striking addition to your outdoor space. When establishing this robust potted perennial, choose a planting site that offers full sun or partial shade in rich, fertile earth that remains moist but well-drained throughout the year. It is a fully hardy crop that thrives in cooler UK climates, requiring very little ongoing maintenance once the large underground root system has successfully established itself. To keep the plant healthy and highly productive for many years, simply clear away any dead foliage as it naturally dies back in autumn and provide a thick top-dressing of organic compost every winter.
