Choose black, white or mint green. About the Design In 1960 Charles and Ray Eames were asked to furnish the lobbies of the new Time & Life Building in New York. Their answer was a chair with the comfort of a lounge seat and the bearing of an office chair: thick cushions held between two cast-aluminum side frames, wide enough to sink into and upright enough to work in. It has been known ever since as the Time-Life chair, the Lobby chair or simply the Executive chair. Its reputation for long-sitting comfort spread well beyond offices — Bobby Fischer asked for one at the 1972 World Chess Championship in Reykjavík. This chair follows the same recipe: a seat and two separate back cushions with button tufting and piped edges, padded armrests carried by the aluminum frame, and a swivel base on casters.
