Israeli IDF 7.92×57mm Mauser Purple Wooden Bullet Blank – 1956 – INERT An original Israeli IDF 7.92×57mm Mauser wooden-bullet blank cartridge, manufactured in 1956 and featuring the distinctive purple/violet pointed wooden projectile. These wooden-bullet blanks were produced for use with the large quantities of 7.92mm Mauser-calibre weapons retained and used by the early Israeli Defence Forces. Israeli ammunition from this period is particularly interesting to collectors because it represents the formative years of Israel's domestic military ammunition production. The 7×60 is considerably less commonly encountered than the familiar 7×57mm Mauser and represents one of the numerous specialist sporting chamberings produced during the development of high-velocity European sporting ammunition. This example has a brass bottleneck case together with a distinctive round-nosed projectile showing a blue-grey finish.
