Utricularia cornuta Potted

Utricularia cornuta is a fantastic showstopper of a bladderwort when it seemingly flowers out of an empty pot of soil! This hardy bladderwort has tall, bright yellow flowers and can be grown in your bog garden alongside Sarracenia and Venus flytraps. While this species' flowers are not to be missed, the small, faux leaves are barely visible. When you receive this plant, you are unlikely even to see anything other than moss. Be patient! With proper care and time to settle in, it will flower for you! The main flowering period is late spring, but if grown under lights, it can flower more often. It will benefit from regular, twice-monthly fertilizing with diluted Maxsea (1/4 teaspoon per 1 gallon of distilled water). Please note: when we ship Utricularia, the delicate flowers cannot withstand the shipping process. You will likely receive a pot with no flowers but many small stolons (these look like small blades of grass) that indicate lots of healthy growth in the pot. These small faux leaves can be hard to see! But keep in mind that the real action is under the soil, where the Utricularia will have many, many tiny bladder-like traps! With a little time and care, they will start producing flowers.
