Bone 4 Prong Heru Comb; HOOK

Heru (hair comb) carved from real beef bone. Large (17cm long) 4 prong comb. Hei Matau (fish hook) symbolises strength, prosperity, good luck and safe passage over water. Also available in Tiki, Koru, Manaia, Pikorua single twist, Pikorua triple twist and Whale Tail Heru are used to hold and decorate hair in a bun (top knot). Traditionally the head was considered the most sacred part of the body. Because hair was believed to retain a person's spiritual essence the Heru served as a way to honour and protect that spiritual connection. Available with or without woven kete (bag). Kete makes a very nice gift presentation and safe storage/transport. The top of the Heru will stick out of the kete. Weights; Heru 55 grams. Kete 16 grams.
