Railroads of Nevada and Eastern California, Volume I: The Northern Roads | David F. Myrick | 1992 Description A substantial history of the railroads that crossed the mountains, mining districts and wide-open country of Nevada and eastern California. David F. Myrick's Railroads of Nevada and Eastern California, Volume I: The Northern Roads traces the development of the region's major lines as well as its smaller short lines, mining railroads and narrow-gauge operations. Extensively illustrated with historic photographs, maps and railroad material, the book covers the Central Pacific alongside lines including the Nevada Central Railway, Nevada Short Line Railway, Austin City Railway, Battle Mountain & Lewis Railway and many others. Originally published in 1962, this 1992 University of Nevada Press edition was revised with corrections and updated locomotive rosters. It's an especially useful reference for readers interested in Western railroad history, Nevada mining history, historic locomotives and the smaller railroads that once served remote communities throughout the region.
