Late 20th Century Hungarian Mottled Green Folk Ceramic Jug
Here we have a stunning, late 20th century, traditional redware potted jug. Made from terracotta this jug features a globular, rounded body with a short, flared neck and a single study handle - this silhouette is often referred to as a "Bokaly". This particular piece has a mottled green and earthy red surface typical of the Ujvarosi green pottery style from Hodmezovasarhely. Its weathered appearance is intentional, achieved using traditional lead-glazing techniques. Historically this jug is rooted in the peasantry culture of the Great Hungarian Plain, likely used as a wine or water vessel. This beautiful piece is still functional but can also be used as a decorative accessory. The dimensions are as follows: H - 21cm, L - 16.5cm, W - 12cm Free Shipping with orders over £35 for UK mainland Please pay via Debit/Credit card/Bank Transfer not paypal - as we ship via private transporter and cannot provide a tracking number (they will have your contact details) Thank you for looking and please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions!
