Set of 12 Saint-Gobain Advertising Plates Designed by Jean Effel
A wonderfully playful set of 12 French advertising plates with illustrations by Jean Effel (1908-1982) for the glass company Saint-Gobain. The plates likely date to the 1960s and are moulded glass, and comprise four green, four red and four yellow pieces. Each illustration is titled 'LES PETITS SECRETS DE SAINT GOBAIN' and the accompanying images have a cartoon strip wittiness to them. We think these would make a fantastic wall hang above a couch or spaced around a door frame. There is some minor colour loss to the edges of several of the plates, however no major areas of damage. A great example of French humour from the mid 20th century! Dimensions - 17.5cm D Marked - 'DURALEX' and 'MADE IN FRANCE' to the rear
