Bring Your Own Project Course (Beginners II & Up): June 7th & 14th, 2026

This in-person machine sewing course is designed for sewers who wish to work on their own projects in a supportive and collaborative environment. Whether you're a beginner tackling one of your first garments, alteration, or redesign, or an experienced sewist working on a pattern, our open sewing sessions provide the space and guidance you need to bring your ideas to life. Bring your fabric, machines, and a sewing project you want to work on, and receive personalized instruction, tips, and troubleshooting assistance. Our instructor will be available to offer advice to help you achieve your sewing goals. Please reach out ahead of the course if you like help selecting a project for you. This class is not designed for someone who has never used a sewing machine. Please sign up for our Beginners Sewing Course first. You need to bring your own sewing machine, tools, and supplies. Knowledge of how to use your sewing machine are required. Meet the instructor: Rachel Putman Inspired by Betty and Veronica and fueled by a lifelong love of making, Rachel has been an advocate for slow fashion since she was a teen. Her passion grew into teaching—sharing her skills with friends and family, fellow sewists online, and now the local community. Rachel has been a pattern tester, fit model, and content creator for many independent designers. She’s excited to spark creativity and confidence in new and experienced sewists while building connections with Athens’ creative community. The Bring Your Own Project Course meets at COMMUNITY on the following dates: Sunday, June 7th, 10:00am - 1:00pm Sunday, June 14th, 10:00am - 1:00pm with a maximum size of six participants. For Ages 18+ Please provide an email AND phone number at checkout. For cancellations, you will receive a 75% refund until seven days before the beginning of the course. Cancellation seven days or less before the course results in a refund of 25% of the cost of the course. No refunds will be issued on the day the course begins or after the course has begun.
