It is one of the most luminous, clear, and versatile reds available in watercolour. Its blue bias makes it the perfect complement to Scarlet Lake's warmth: together they cover the entire red spectrum. Crimson Lake is the red for pink roses, magenta florals, cooler portrait flesh shadows, and the richest mixed purples.
