Street Life by Richard Braine is a photographic journey through the streets of London. The journey starts in the mid-60s when Richard took pictures of Notting Hill street-sellers and the families living around the Rachman slums. By the early ‘70s he had discovered Speakers Corner then skateboarders in Wandsworth, followed by Teddy Boy clubs like The George in Hammersmith. In the mid 70s he captured life in the streets during the celebrations for the Queens Jubilee. In April 1977 he went to the Roxy Club with his friend Sid, he said he’d never seen anything like it. The audience were the focus of his work as he thought they were the true stars. By the 80s Richard was documenting the streets of Shepherds Bush and Hammersmith he could see the wave of yuppies coming into the neighbourhood and he knew things would never go back to how they were. Richard Braine continued to take photographs until 2016. 168 Pages Hardback
