Sabandija x Omar Rayo Backgammon
Omar Rayo (1928–2010) was one of Latin America's defining geometric abstractionists, a Colombian painter, printmaker, and sculptor whose hard-edged compositions of bands, diamonds, and circles placed him among the pioneers of Op Art. His mature work staged a conversation between pre-Columbian visual culture and geometric abstraction, and in 1981 he founded the Museo Rayo in his hometown of Roldanillo to preserve that legacy. This collaboration brings Rayo's visual language, order, repetition, symmetry, into Sabandija's full-grain leather craftsmanship, reimagined as a portable backgammon set. Here, geometry becomes territory. The board proposes a space of order and strategy, where repetition and symmetry are activated through time, play, and interaction. Portable backgammon set crafted from full-grain leather, designed to stylishly accompany moments of leisure while traveling. Its roll-up format allows for easy storage and transport without compromising quality or detail.
