Roxburgh & Selkirk (The Border) Scottish Rifles Officer's Sword, Edward VII
A scarce officer’s sword of the 1st Roxburgh & Selkirk (The Border) Rifle Volunteers, dating to the reign of Edward VII. From 1888, the regiment formed part of the South of Scotland (Scottish Border) Brigade, which later saw service in the First World War. The blade, bearing a Pillin proof disc and retailed by Hobson & Sons or 1, 3, and 5 Lexington Street, London, is in immaculate condition, with exceptional etching. The sword bears the owner's initials, most likely reading "A.L.C." The name has yet to be researched.
