Black Sheaffer Balance "Premier" (OS) pen - Vacuum-fil - fine point

Until the 1938 catalog Sheaffer simply called this pen the large Balance. That is when they decided to call it the Premier and at that time they also added the price code to the barrel imprint. This pen lacks a price code (1000 = $10) so it pre-dates the 1938. So I put the name "Premier" in quotes. I still prefer calling it a Premier than an Oversize since I don't believe that Sheaffer ever used the term OS. The barrel is personalized Lou Sayer. Lou took excellent care of his pen. The celluloid is perfect with excellent color and clarity. There is no plating wear or loss. The nib writes a smooth, wet, fine line. And the filler has been restored with modern materials that will last decades with only an occasional application of 100% pure silicone grease on the filler rod. Length Capped - 141 mm (5.5”) Uncapped - 121 mm (4.8”) Posted - 163 mm (6.4”). Diameter Cap - 15 mm (0.6”) Barrel - 12.8 mm (0.5”)
