The diamond Harlequin pattern is found all the way back in the medieval era, most noticeably at the height of the Italian theaterform Commedia Dell Arte, which flourished in the 1500s. The character Arlecchino wore a motley diamond patterned costume. This pattern gained huge popularity again in the 1940s, and the silhouette of the jumper is inspired by this decade. The Jumper is knit top down in a multicolored diamond pattern, with solid colored sleeves that are picked up and knit on at the end. The listing is for both the Norwegian and English pattern.
