Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart One of our most elegant icons, this representation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart is rendered in a blend of Byzantine and Western styles. The letters on either side of Mary stand for "Mother of God," while the letters beside Christ mean "Jesus Christ." Mary holds the Child Jesus in her arms as Christ reaches out to bless the viewer. All three members of the Trinity are present — the Holy Spirit as a dove, and God the Father reaching out from the top of the icon, an unusual departure from traditional iconography. The original image was commissioned by a family consecrating themselves to the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart.
