Extra-large, five-sided vessel by Suvira McDonald from April 2026. An exceptional piece from a master potter, this imposing, powerful work has an irregular, five-sided form, finished with a smooth base of soft green/grey, overlaid with dramatic, overlapping swathes of crackled glaze, ranging from pale to dark orange. This work functions both as a vase, but equally well as a striking, stand-alone sculptural piece. Suvira McDonald is a legendary potter based in Northern NSW, whose career spans more than 30 years. He's known for his lush, generous forms and glazes, and many pieces are wood fired in a Japanese style anagama kiln. Crackled, fire-coloured surfaces that look like the vessel is itself a glowing ember are a hallmark of McDonald's style.
