Dating to around 1880, this antique cluster ring is a good example of late Victorian jewellery making. Crafted in 18ct yellow gold, it is a well considered piece from stone to band. At the centre sits a verdelite tourmaline, held in nine claws and displaying a rich, deep green-blue colour. Verdelite is a variety of tourmaline that is less commonly encountered than many of its counterparts, and this example has a colour worth noting. Twelve single cut natural diamonds surround the stone, estimated at 0.60ct in total, providing a clean and complementary frame. The band flares outward into a tripartite shaped shoulder with a central fleur de lys motif to each section — a nicely detailed finish that adds interest beyond the cluster itself. SKU Z41
