FLUORITE with CHALCOPYRITE
A very glassy, pale amber-yellow cube of Fluorite from Cave-in-Rock, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District. Not a perfect cube in outline it does have two almost perfect edges, the longest reaching 5 cm on edge and another just slightly shorter. Its lower edge doesn't appear to be a fracture, but is uneven where the crystal appears to have grown alongside matrix and its fourth side is shorter but straight and intact too. Sparse inclusions of golden Chalcopyrite are present, with slightly greater concentrations along the outer edges of the cube. The main corner of the cube is intact, but does show a very small internal cleavage plane at certain angles and very slight chipping is seen elsewhere, but this is very minor. The back of the cube is more opaque and loses its yellow colour. Ex Arvid Pasto Collection, this is a nice size individual Fluorite crystal from Cave-in-Rock.
