From Meh to Magnificent: In-Depth Analysis - Jelly Bean Class with France Bauduin
ONLINE WORKSHOP: July 28, 2026 • 10:00a.m. Pacific Time: Approx. 2 hours Limited to 35 students Can't attend? All registrants receive a video. A Comprehensive Guide to Start Your Masterpiece Creation! While France's previous class “From Meh to Magnificent: Improve Your Animal Art” highlighted ways your drawing can surpass the photo, this class equips you with all the necessary steps to achieve that goal. From your chosen photo, you'll explore potential adjustments, including what to retain, what to eliminate, what to add, what to modify, what to enhance, and what to soften. You'll learn how to implement these changes using complementary images or Photoshop experiments. Additionally, you'll discover how to select the right paper and color, as well as how to utilize a grid to produce a drawing of your desired size. With a wealth of examples, this class offers dozens of intermediary steps – focusing on the head, body, foreground, and background – and presents two distinct methods to achieve the result you envision. You'll gain insight into why it's advantageous to position the subject first in some cases and why a more gradual approach is preferable in others. This class truly outlines each step taken from the reference photo to the start of creating a masterpiece, featuring numerous examples and various techniques using different types of paper. You'll Learn How: • To utilize a grid by placing only white dots at the corners of an imaginary square on your colored paper, along with the method for calculating the conversion factor. • Photoshop experiments can assist you in selecting the ideal background or, in some cases, opting for no background at all. • To incorporate complementary photos to enrich your composition, your background, or both. About France: Entirely self-taught, France has been using CP for nearly 25 years, winning awards with CP societies and other Animal Art Competitions. By either changing or combining reference photos she aims to better illustrate strong playful relationships in animals with her art, especially cats, big or small. What's a Jelly Bean Class?
