At its center hangs a large blue apatite stone whose swirling blues and whites remind me of open skies drifting with clouds. Above it rests a rainbow labradorite stone, flashing brilliant colors like sunlight dancing through the atmosphere. Together they create a composition that feels suspended between earth and sky. Apatite is a phosphate mineral that forms in igneous and metamorphic environments and is prized for its vivid ocean-blue coloration. It has long been associated with inspiration, communication, and personal growth. Above it, rainbow labradorite displays its famous labradorescence, an optical phenomenon created by microscopic layers within the feldspar crystal structure that reflect brilliant flashes of blue, green, gold, and violet light. I chose these stones because they feel alive with possibility and wonder. I designed this micromacramé choker as a living forest woven from cord. Hundreds of tiny leaves in shades of brown, purple, and pink flow throughout the piece, creating the feeling of vines, branches, and woodland growth surrounding the stones. The adjustable design allows me to wear it high as a statement choker or lower as a pendant necklace. To me, this piece feels like a meeting place between the forest floor and the open sky—a celebration of nature, imagination, and the countless hours of craftsmanship required to bring such a vision to life.
