Pair of Mirrored Glass Hat Stands with Ruby Cut Glass Finials

Pair of Mirrored Glass Hat Stands with Ruby Cut Glass Finials

Brand: Collection EE40

An unusual and highly decorative pair of hat stands, each formed with a mirrored glass baluster stem rising from a circular spreading base and surmounted by a striking ruby-red cut glass sphere. The globes are finely engraved with trailing grapevine and foliate motifs, cut through the rich ruby flashing to reveal the clear glass beneath, a technique associated with the celebrated glasshouses of Bohemia. Possibly Austrian or Bohemian, circa 1900 Elegant in proportion and sculptural in form, the stands were likely intended for the display of hats, headdresses, or other fashionable accessories. The combination of polished silver-plated metalwork and vibrant ruby glass creates a dramatic decorative effect, equally suited to a dressing room, boutique, or interior display. The engraved grape motifs and deep ruby colouring lend the pieces a distinctly Belle Époque character, while their substantial scale gives them considerable presence. Dimensions Height: 63 cm Width: 18 cm Base Diameter: 18 cm Condition The glass columns and globes with light foxing commensurate with age. Overall presenting well. Provenance Private Collection.
