Striking Baluch Trapping - 5" x 7'3

A striking Baluch animal trapping, woven in a long, narrow format with its original braided ties still attached. The design is spare and powerful with a dark wool ground animated by a chain of ivory stepped motifs, small flashes of madder red, and compact end panels with orange and ivory geometric borders. Originally made as functional animal gear, likely for a camel or pack animal, this piece carries the directness of nomadic weaving. It was built for use, but also for beauty, turning an everyday object into a display of identity, skill, and pride. The palette is especially handsome, with deep black-brown wool offset by warm ivory and restrained red accents.
