Lipped Bowl - in Flamed Beech

Bowl made from Flamed Beech Size - D 32cm x H 9.5cm Finish - Hard Wax Oil A classic form with gentle curves and a sharply detailed lip. Some exceptionally beautiful grain and flame pattern through the piece. This is storm fallen beech, sourced one hundred meters down the road from us. It’s a tree that I’ve walked past my whole life and was sad to see it had fallen in the strong winds a few years ago. I was even sadder to find it was destined to be firewood. After reasoning with the tree surgeons I managed to save a good portion of the main trunk. Being just under a meter in diameter it was a bit of an undertaking to get it back to the workshop. The wood was delightfully clean but with a flame pattern unlike I had ever seen. Thick dark bands licking through the wood like fire. I wanted to show of this grain as much a possible, carefully choosing when I make my cuts to ensure the patterns move throughout the piece. - for decoration or display purposes - hand wash / wipe clean - Please note - any orders placed will be packed and shipped after the 10th August
