He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore in 1990. He began his academic career at the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Law, where he taught from 1982 to 2000 and was appointed Professor of Law in 1999. He later joined the Singapore Management University as Professor of Law in 2000 and became Chair of the Department of Law at the SMU Business School in 2001. A prolific legal scholar, he has authored numerous publications, including the Singapore edition of Cheshire, Fifoot and Furmston’s Law of Contract.
