Vintage Ashanti Akuaba Style Wooden Fertility Figure

Believed to date from the late 20th century, this hand-carved Akuaba-style wooden figure is inspired by the traditional fertility dolls of the Ashanti people of Ghana. With its oversized circular head, stylised facial features and geometric decoration, it makes a striking sculptural statement while celebrating one of Africa's most recognisable artistic forms. Finished in a black painted and stained surface, the figure has developed an attractive aged patina over time, with areas of natural paint wear revealing the lighter timber beneath. Designed as a free-standing decorative sculpture, it works beautifully on a bookshelf, console table, sideboard or display cabinet, adding warmth, texture and global character to an interior.
