Kenny is of Rwandan nationality himself, and spends much of his time at origin, specifically in Rwanda and Burundi. He focuses on securing stellar lots of coffee for craft-focused roasters in the States. He’s truly a one-of-a-kind individual, and we’re glad to call him a friend. Overview Located in the highlands of Rwanda’s Congo-Nile region is the Rugarura Coffee Cooperative. When rich volcanic soils and ideal micro-climates meet, exceptional coffee grows and undergoes perfect processing. Community Owned by a women-led enterprise, this washing station is rooted in resilience, sustainability, and positive community impact. Working closely with 245 local farmers, Rugarura promotes quality-driven coffee production while supporting the livelihoods of farmers and promoting inclusivity. Process This washing station offers coffees from many different processing methods. This lot of Red Bourbon was processed naturally by letting the cherries dry in the sun on raised beds, with intermittent raking of the cherries to promote even drying. Expect notes of sweet citrus and delicate florality. Think specifically of orange blossom and cotton candy vibes.
