Every sensor, actuator, and accessory on this page uses the standardised SENECT Plug & Play connector system and is compatible with all SENECT control units — the SENECT|ONE, SENECT|TWO, AQUACULTURE|CONTROL, and MONITOR|4. (Feeders are not compatible with MONITOR|4 as it lacks actuator outputs.) Q How often does the O2S oxygen sensor cap need replacing? The O2S sensor cap (Art. 2101) has a lifetime of approximately 2 years or over 1,000,000 measurements. Shelf life is over 5 years when stored dry and dark at 20°C. Replacement is a simple push-fit — no tools required. Q Can I replace pH and ORP electrodes myself? Absolutely. Both the pH XR1 and ORP XT1 use standard BNC plug connectors. Simply unscrew the old electrode, unplug it, and connect the replacement (Art. 2201 for pH, Art. 2301 for ORP). No factory return or special tools needed. Calibration standards available in 20 ml sachets. Q What's the difference between CON-2 and CON-50? CON-2 (Art. 2410) measures 0–2000 µS/cm — ideal for freshwater. CON-50 (Art. 2400) extends to 0–50 mS/cm — the best choice for saltwater / marine systems. Both use inductive measurement, are IP68 rated, and come with 10 m cable. SENECT controllers auto-calculate salinity (PSU) from the readings. Q Does the pH sensor really measure CO₂? The pH Sensor XR1 provides an indirect CO₂ measurement. SENECT controllers combine the pH reading with temperature data (from any connected SENECT sensor or entered manually) and user-input alkalinity to calculate dissolved CO₂ concentration — a highly useful calculated value for aquaculture CO₂ management. Q Are extension cables available? Yes. Standard SENECT extension cables: Art. 3450 (5 m) and Art. 3460 (10 m) with compatible plugs on both ends. Sensor cable lengths vary: 5 m (EDS, valves, alarms, feeders), 7.5 m (O2S), 10 m (CON), and 2+5 m (pH and ORP with separate transducer cable). Q "Normally open" vs "normally closed" — what's the difference? The Oxygen M7 valve is "normally open" — oxygen flows by default and only stops when energised, so your O₂ supply continues during a power outage. The Water M12 is "normally closed" — water only flows when energised, preventing flooding if power is lost. Both are deliberate safety design choices. Q Does BTA carry stock in Australia?
