At 1X the formulation provides 25 mM bicine, 25 mM Bis-Tris, and 1 mM ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. Diluted to working strength, the 8 x 500 mL yields 80 L of 1X buffer. The 1 mM ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid chelates divalent cations in the working buffer, and the bicine/Bis-Tris pair carries the buffering at pH 7.2. It suits western blot transfer of proteins resolved on Bis-Tris polyacrylamide gels.
