Titanic Tarot Cards by Barclay Mountain
These are the first edition and what a lovely set of Tarot cards they are. Very rich and detailed and perfect for adding a little extra punch to your routines. _EF The Titanic Tarot was created as a symbolic completion of the voyage that the RMS Titanic began on April 10, 1912 and never finished. The 78 custom-illustrated cards are dedicated to both those who were lost and the 712 who survived. The Major Arcana in particular use the microcosm of the ship’s passengers and crew to explore universal themes: love and sacrifice, triumph and failure, ambition and its limits. The Minor Arcana pip cards, when laid out in sequence, form larger images that reinforce the deck’s guiding idea that what happens in miniature reflects patterns at every scale. The deck comes with a 100-page color booklet packed into a rigid two-piece cardboard box. A deluxe version also includes a walnut wood storage box with a White Star Line logo lid, a wax-sealed envelope, and a boarding pass for one of the passengers or crew aboard the Titanic, making it a meaningful collector’s item. The cards are in keeping with the period and people depicted do use archive records. There is a small book that comes with the cards but it really only give the meanings of the cards, It might have come with a bit more history of the Titanic and the people pictured. Of course, the deck has a naturally rather watery element to it. Like the iceberg Trot allows you to see that often people hide a lot more then is expressed on the surface. (Adam Fronteras)
