Upcycled Art Deco Dressing Table | Figured Walnut Veneer, Lilac Floral Drawers, Triple Mirror

A very special vintage piece... Some pieces are difficult to describe as simply a dressing table, and this is definitely one of them. I've taken a beautifully unusual vintage Art Deco dressing table with its original figured wood veneer, ornate carved detailing and fabulous three-panel mirror, and given it a completely new personality whilst keeping the character that made the original piece so special. The outer frame has been finished in a soft, dusky lilac/mauve shade, carefully chosen to complement the warmth of the original wood. The drawers have been left largely natural, allowing the beautiful vintage veneer and its individual grain to remain visible. Across the two drawer fronts is a large botanical floral design, positioned to flow continuously from one drawer to the next. The effect is almost as though a huge bouquet is spilling out across the front of the piece. The top has its own floral composition, with flowers and foliage framing the original wood grain and leaving plenty of the beautiful figuring visible in the centre. And then there is the mirror... The original three-panel mirror is one of the things that makes this piece so unusual. The carved wooden surround features beautiful decorative detailing with a gilded finish, which has been carefully retained. The mirror glass itself is aged and imperfect, with marks and signs of its history that have not been removed or disguised. I have deliberately kept this character rather than replacing or making the glass look artificially perfect. It is part of the story of the piece and gives the mirror a wonderful vintage quality. This is a substantial, one-of-a-kind piece that would make a spectacular statement in a bedroom, dressing room, hallway or even a large entrance. It isn't trying to look like a brand-new piece of furniture. It is a vintage piece with a history, given a completely new life.
