ReCollected Tunisian Blue Couscous Dish
Part of ReCollected, Kulturnest's private collection of pre-owned, never-worn, and vintage pieces, this unused Tunisian couscous serving dish consists of a broad glazed plate and a tall conical cover. Its white ceramic body is hand-decorated in deep blue, violet, turquoise and black, with repeating scallops, stylised leaves or seeds, dotted details and strong geometric borders. The decoration recalls Tunisia’s renowned Nabeul ceramic tradition, known for glazed earthenware and multicoloured tableware that combines local decorative vocabularies with broader Ottoman and Andalusian influences. The conical cover gives the piece its unmistakable North African silhouette and creates a theatrical reveal when brought to the table. This dish's ornament is primarily botanical and geometric: leaves and seed-like forms can suggest growth and abundance, while the repeated bands create rhythm and visual balance. A circular workshop/origin stamp is visible on the underside. Market it as a couscous serving or display piece rather than stovetop cookware unless its heat resistance is documented. Materials: Hand-painted glazed ceramic, earthenware. Condition: Unused.
