Antique French Art Deco Rosewood Vitrine Display Cabinet or Bookcase, 1940s

This elegant antique French Art Deco vitrine display cabinet or bookcase was made in France circa 1940. Beautifully handcrafted with rosewood veneer over a solid wood frame, the cabinet features an asymmetrical architectural design that combines open shelving, glazed display storage, and concealed storage. Richly figured rosewood veneer, sculptural metal hardware, and restrained geometric styling reflect the refined characteristics of late French Art Deco furniture. Uniquely designed to balance display and storage, the cabinet features a central vitrine fitted with original beveled glass door that opens on three fixed display shelves, an enclosed cabinet with three fixed shelves on the right, and a distinctive curved section on the left combining two open display shelves above a lower enclosed storage compartment. The cabinet was built to completely disassemble into sections using steel assembly hardware, allowing for easier transportation and installation. It retains its original sculptural metal pull, lock escutcheons, and working brass key. Suitable for use as a vitrine, display cabinet, bookcase, china cabinet, bar cabinet, or general storage cabinet. Handwritten French workshop inscriptions remain on the reverse, likely original assembly or cabinetmaker’s marks. CONDITION Very good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use and a rustic, antique appearance. Scattered scuffs and scratches, small veneer losses, and minor repairs expected with age.
