40s vintage all leather XL suitcase trunk. Coffee table. Storage, display, prop

This case is more of a trunk size. We have pictured it with a 12" record to show the scale. It has been extensively treated with saddle cream, leather restorer and beeswax replenisher. Not because that huge amount of work would significantly enhance the value, but because it was a good opportunity to test the effectiveness of those 3 products. This is ideal as a prop for anyone doing a film production. It could be restored as a minor project with glue to make better looking storage or a coffee table because it's so big, or a major project to restore properly and sell for around 6 times my price. Despite the wear it is still quite impressive because the texture of the leather almost looks like elephant hide and the interior is lined with art silk which confirms it was an expensive production in its day. There is also a wonderful attached folder inside. The top should actually be stretched upwards to utilise it's full height and that is a clever innovation that was not generally employed in luggage until 40 years later with an expanding zip idea.
