Point Nemo and the Age of Artificial Intelligence

Point Nemo lies in the vast loneliness of the South Pacific, far from cities, far from coastlines, far from ordinary human memory. It is not a kingdom, not an island, not a harbour, not a battlefield marked by monuments, yet it carries a strange authority over the imagination of the modern world. Around it there is only ocean, sky, wind, depth, silence and distance. The nearest land is so far away that a human being orbiting above Earth in a spacecraft may sometimes be closer to Point Nemo than any sailor, farmer, soldier or child living on land. In that terrifying and beautiful distance, the old map of power begins to change. The world once believed that importance belonged only to crowded capitals, narrow straits, famous ports, rich oil fields, busy trade routes and borders guarded by armies.
